The Bay Area Academy offers one-day and multiple-day courses, conferences and retreats with the goal of training county child welfare and probation staff who are responsible for children and families in the foster care system. Training activities are designed to ensure that workers have the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform their jobs as administrators of the foster care program. The Academy trains staff on administrative activities which include referral to services; preparation for and participation in judicial determinations; placement of the child; case reviews; case management and supervision; and the recruitment and licensing of foster homes and institutions. The Bay Area Academy collaborates statewide in the delivery of a coordinated, standardized core training and ongoing specialized training for line workers, supervisors and managers and is part of the Regional Training Academy system in California.
The Bay Area Academy is responsible for the training and staff development of Child Welfare Service workers in twelve (12) counties in the greater San Francisco Bay Area.
Please note that our trainings are for county Child Welfare staff from the following counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Monterey, Napa, San Benito, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Sonoma, and Solano. All training requests and attendance must go through the county staff development supervisor for your county.
